Lesson Eleven - Editing Classes
Editing Classes and Setting Templates
Classes/Teaching sets are pulled from your school MIS into MINTclass every night and any permanent changes to these should be done in your school MIS. However, there are times when you may need to make a change in MINTclass to show a change that has been made during the day.
Changing Class Codes
To change a Class click on Cortex then go to the Classes tab and search for the class by either the year group or the class code.

Changing Class Codes
To change a Class click on Cortex then go to the Classes tab and search for the class by either the year group or the class code.

Now locate the class that you need to change. If you need to change the Class Code, then click on the pencil, make the necessary changes to the class code and click on the tick to save the changes.

Note: This will create a duplicate class, the original class will be re-imported overnight and the class you just created will also remain in MINTclass.
Adding and Removing Students
If you need to add or remove students from a class, go into Cortex, click in Classes and locate the class you wish to change. Click on the student icon to the right of the pencil.

If you need to remove a student, click on the icon next to the student name. To add a student, type their admission number into the box at the bottom of the class.

Wait a few seconds as MINTclass locates the student and populates their details. Click on the student icon which now has a green plus sign to add that student to the class.
Note: You will need to add the student(s) to the class/teaching set in your school MIS for this to take effect when MINTclass is updated overnight. Failure to update your school MIS with these changes will result in the class/teaching set returning to their original content.
Templates
Once you have made a number of templates in MINTclass you can set a default template to each room. You can find information on creating templates in Creating a New Template.
You can also make existing templates into master templates which will allow all staff to see and use them but without staff being able to make changes. This is useful if you need to apply the same layout to a room for a number of teachers. A template must be a Master template before it can become a default template.
Master Templates
To create a Master template, go to SeatPlanner and click the Templates tab on the sidebar.

In Cortex, go to Misc and then click on Template Room Mapping. Here you will see a list of all the rooms in your school that have been brought through from your school's MIS.

Locate the room that you wish to assign a template to and click on the combo box to the right. Here you will see a list of all the master templates that have been created in your school. Select the template that you need and repeat this for each lesson.
MINTclass will automatically link master templates to rooms if the master template has the same name as a room within MINTclass. For example, say you have a room called '106' and you create a master template called 'Room 106', MINTclass will automatically link these together.
