Strategies Information
Who can input Strategy Information?
All teachers can see student strategy information but to be able to input and amend student Strategies in Cortex you must be authorised to Admin User level access. If you do not have the suitable user access then the 'Cortex' button on the black menu at the top will not be visible. To find out more speak to your school MINTclass administrators or click here for more information.
Cortex can be accessed by pressing the button along the top black bar or by clicking on the Admin tab on your main side bar and then clicking on either of the red buttons marked 'Staff Admin' or 'IP Blacklist', then pressing on the 'Students' tab.
Strategy Information for all your Students
All information that is stored in your school SIMS can be uploaded and displayed in MINTclass. Your school may have devised standardised strategies for students with special requirements. This could be anything from grade ability levels to FSM to EAL requirements.

Alternatively...
Under the 'Misc' tab on your Cortex side bar you can click on the Strategies button to bring up a screen of all the boxes that can have a Strategy added.

You will see green bar charts that give you a breakdown of the number of students in each year group with a particular requirement.
Note: If you think there should be extra information displayed for students that is not visible on this screen then contact the members of staff at your school responsible for MINTclass.
When you press 'edit strategy' a text box will open where you can manually add a Strategy or copy and paste text from a resource. Click save when you are done.

The strategy information will appear on the Student Profile for every student throughout the school to whom it is applicable.
Individual Student Strategies
Individual Student strategies can be set within Cortex under the 'Students' tab on the sidebar. At the top of your screen, you will see a search bar with drop down options.

You must choose at least one of the criteria on the search bar to filter results. If you choose to search through Year 9 you will see a scrollable list of all students with their AdNo (Admission Number), Name, Gender and Form.

Any student who has SEN, will either have a letter under the column headed SEN and/or information under the Need Type header. To edit this information, click the speech bubble icon under Actions (third one in).

A large text box will open that allows you to edit 'General' strategy notes or edit their specific SEN strategy. You can add links to web addresses by writing http:// or https:// before your link (e.g. http://schoolstrategy.com). When you are finished click save. You can also add links to files in school for example, IEPs and ILPs. You will just need the full document path and then put 'file:///' before the file path. This can only work on Internet Explorer at the moment, and will need some setting up with your IT team. Please email support@mintclass.com to get this set up.

Now when you search for and click on the students profile card you will find personalised strategy notes as well any strategy notes that have been made for all students with a particular need separated by a dotted line.
Note: A student may have a 'SEN' icon but if no information is added in the Strategy boxes a student will not have the 'Strategies' Tab on their Student Profile until something is input to display.
